ITINERARY OF: AFFORDABLE 5 DAYS TOUR FROM FES TO THE DESERT AND MARRAKECH

  • DAY 1 : FES – IFRANE – AZROU – MIDELT – MERZOUGA

    After that, we met at the agreed-upon location. We will begin our vacation in the southeast, passing through the Middle Atlas via Ifrane, Morocco’s “Switzerland,” and then on to Azrou, where we will visit the famed cedar forest, Morocco’s largest, to see and play with Barbary apes. We continue south from here, passing through various cities and having the opportunity to see nomads living in tents on the route to Midelt for lunch. After lunch, we will continue our journey to reach the Atlas Mountains. The majority of the day will be spent winding your way to Errachidia, the desert’s gate, through lush forests, springs, jagged rock walls, and Berber communities. Then Erfoud arrives at the Merzouga Desert Hotel or Riad for a minty cup of tea and to relax before the hour-and-a-half camel trek to enjoy the sunset and sand boarding from the top of the next highest dune, dinner and overnight in traditional Berber tents with drumming under a clear sky full of stars.

  • DAY 2 : MERZOUGA – ERG CHEBBI – OVERNIGHT IN BERBER TENT

    You will begin your exploration of the area after breakfast in the riad. You’ll go to the Gnawa people, who were initially brought from Sudan as slaves, to learn about their culture and music. The Merzouga Lake, with its diverse bird population, is not far distant. In the afternoon, you will mount your camel and be taken by an experienced camel man through Merzouga’s sand-sea. Dinner will be served in the berber tent where you will spend the night. The camp is equipped with western bathrooms for your convenience.

  • DAY 3 : MERZOUGA – RISSANI – TODRA GORGES – PALM GROVES OF TINGHIR – DADES VALLEY

    Your camel guide will wake you up early in the morning to watch what could be the best sunrise of your life. You will travel back to Merzouga village after morning. The beautiful Erg Chebbi sand dunes, which change with the light as the day progresses, are not to be missed along the way. We will visit the Markt in Rissani, a traditional village that was the origin of the reigning dynasty in Morocco and the meeting location of the Caravans trading as far as Timbuktu in Mali, after breakfast in your riad. The Todra gorges – Morocco’s tallest and narrowest gorges – are home to many hooded males and veiled women. We’ll drive through the Dades Valley after lunch in the valley, where you’ll view spectacular sand castles and fascinating rock formations known as “monkey toes.” The night will be spent in a posh hotel with a view of the Dades valley.

  • DAY 4 : DADES VALLEY – KASBAH AMRIDIL – PALM GROVES OF SKOURA – OUARZAZATE

    After breakfast in the hotel, we’ll drive to Kalaat Mgouna and Ouarzazate through the Dades Valley, or Asif N’dades in Tamazight (berber). The path through Dades Valley is known as the Way of the Thousand Kasbahs, and it offers several opportunitiesBerber to capture some of the best photographs of your trip. We’ll make a pit stop in Kalaat Mgouna, dubbed “the Rose City,” to buy rosewater, which will keep your linen smelling fresh long after your trip is ended. Continue to Ouarzazate via the Amridil Kasbah, home to many Glaoui people and one of the last Berber chieftains in the 18th century. Ouarzazate is where you will spend the night.

  • DAY 5 : OUARZAZATE – AIT BEN HADDOU KASBAH – TIZI N’TICHKA PASS – MARRAKECH

    Following an early breakfast in the riad, we set off on our journey to Ait Ben Haddou’s ksar (fortified settlement), where we will see the famed Kasbah (declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986). Gladiator, Obelix, The Mummy, The Jewel of the Nile, and Sahara with Penélope Cruz have all been filmed on this magnificent stage. Following our visit to the kasbah, we will travel to Marrakech over the Tizi Ntichka pass. This is our country’s highest point, at 2.260m. At the end of the afternoon, we’ll check into your riad within the Medina, taking in the lovely scenery from the overlooks along the way and stopping to photograph the berber settlements. Staying at a riad for the night.
