Before continuing on to Fes, where we will stay in a typical Moroccan riad for the night.
With the help of a local guide, we will visit the medina (old city) after breakfast. Fes is one of the world’s largest and oldest cities. We’ll go through narrow lanes filled with the scent of spices and colorful carpets, as well as many other Moroccan art products.
We’ll stop at Kings Palace, the tanneries, the potters, and other artisans along the way. After that, we’ll have lunch in a typical restaurant in the center of the Medina before wrapping off the tour and returning to our hotel.
We will pick you up after breakfast and begin our adventure. Then travel south over the Middle Atlas highlands to Ifrane, dubbed “Moroccan Switzerland,” and Azrou. We’ll then stop in the cedar forests along the road to witness the Barbarian Apes in their native habitat.
As you reach Errachidia, you’ll witness views of the Middle-Atlas plateau and the environment altering to give clues of the desert as you travel via the Tizi Ntalghamt pass to Midelt and down the beautiful Ziz Gorges cut by volcanic rock. Then, after lunch, we’ll continue on to Erfoud, Rissani, and Merzouga via the Ziz Valley.
We’ll next leave our belongings in a safe place and ride a camel to a Berber tent in the center of the Erg Chebbi Sand Dunes after a drink of mint tea. They are, in reality, North Africa’s highest sand dunes.
To begin, the camel trek takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes from the camp to the Berber tents where we will spend the night in the desert. As a result, the tents are well-stocked with mattresses, blankets, and pillows.
Finally, after dinner, we’ll gather around the fire to listen to traditional Berber drums while gazing at the stars.
